AHS

AUTONOMOUS HAULAGE SYSTEM

In order to improve performance and efficiency in its operations, during the last decade in the mining industry has seen an increase in interest in technologies such as Autonomous Haulage System (AHS [AHS]), one of the most important surface mining automation technologies that has technically and operationally matured to be deployed on a large scale in the industry.

In a context where mining companies seek to increase the annual productivity of their operations, a greater degree of consistency and predictability in their processes is required. For this problem, automation is seen as the best means to obtain a safer, more consistent, predictable process, and with less variability in its production process.

Then, thanks to AHS technology, mining operations can obtain the following benefits:

  • Greater safety, since it eliminates the exposure of people to the line of fire regarding the interaction of large tonnage equipment in the autonomous zone, achieving greater control and predictability of the operation.
  • Increased productivity through increased equipment utilization, with increased process consistency and replicability.
  • Lower unit costs due to reduced asset base, labor costs, maintenance and operating costs.
  • Decreases the requirement of personnel for the operation of equipment.
  • Reduced requirement of transport equipment throughout the life of the mine, thanks to the greater availability and useful life of the equipment.
  • It decreases process variability, and the operation is more consistent.

At Tellus Mining we are experts in the study and implementation of this technology in transport and drilling equipment, since we understand how to ensure that automation is successfully implemented beyond the technical point of view. For this reason, we are prepared to provide specialized and complete advice, which addresses the changes that are required in processes, people and operational culture.

ADS

AUTONOMOUS DRILL SYSTEM

Autonomous drilling system (ADS) technology [ADS]allows drilling equipment to be operated autonomously, that is, to enter drilling sequences that, once initiated, can be developed continuously under supervision, but without the direct intervention of a third party, so that its operation and interaction with the environment is controlled and self-managed from a place as remote as the customer’s network infrastructure allow.

The main benefits of this autonomous system are:

  • Increases safety because operators are not exposed to the inherent risks of the drilling process.
  • • The availability of the equipment , increases, since unscheduled maintenance is reduced due to a better use of the components, in addition to less damage to the machinery because the system dispenses with human manipulation.
  • Utilization increases , by reducing unscheduled downtime and making the process more reliable.
  • The performance of the drilling process is increased.
  • And finally, costs are reduced by the consistent wear of the components that register higher performance in drilling steels, and because the requirement of personnel per equipment decreases.

SYSTEM

TROLLEY ASSIST

Framed in global efforts to combat climate change, decarbonization technologies are critical in today’s mining industry. One of the most relevant electromobility systems is the Trolley Assist, which through electric traction collects energy from suspended trolley lines and allows trucks to climb slopes faster and, in turn, reduce cycle times and increase productivity.

The main benefits of this technology are as follows:

  • Lower greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions as a result of lower fuel consumption.
  • Replacement of diesel fuel with electric power, since in the trolley assist sections the trucks mainly use electric energy for their movement, minimizing their fuel consumption when operating in idle mode.
  • Access to the full power of the traction motors, allowing the truck to travel at a higher speed when connected to the catenary system, resulting in increased performance. This makes it possible to reduce the number of trucks required by the mining plan and, therefore, reduce the costs related to the purchase of trucks and labor.
  • Better maintainability of components, as there is less wear of the diesel-electric alternator assembly, resulting in savings in maintenance costs.

At Tellus Mining we offer our knowledge and vast experience for the evaluation, engineering, implementation and support of cutting-edge technologies. Specialized to provide consultancy on the advances and developments associated with electromobility and alternative fuels, at Tellus we can address all the technical and economic aspects involved in incorporating these technologies.

CAS

COLISSION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM

Most fatal incidents in the global mining industry are related to the interaction of mobile teams. In order to ensure the safety and integrity of workers, one of the trends in the industry is to incorporate Collision Avoidance System (CAS) technology.

This technology is used as a control system mitigating residual risks that cannot be covered by conventional safety methods and levels, positioning itself as a solution that manages to provide operators with a better perception of the environment at the site, and, in addition, serves to manage fatigue and increase the detection of possible collisions.

In order to capture the benefits of this type of technology, in addition to a technical study, it is necessary to train staff, and, in this sense, Tellus Mining has vast experience to implement this system, addressing the phases of selection, competitive processes, project execution and transfer to the operation, all of which is developed with a sustainable and sustainable approach to the business.
